Really Nurse? Their women fancy a bit of BDSM and they would rather go to the pub? When did this start to happen?

HairySpotter 12:01 Tue Feb 17
'The thing is though, its got fuck all to do with sex' Has it? How do you make that out? And why on earth do you think a woman would only want to do this with a rich bloke? I'm stunned by this argument. Do you have evidence for this?

Re: 50 shades of Grey
The thing is though, its got fuck all to do with sex. If he was a poor man or a broken man whipping her about or dominating her, she would tell him to fuck off as would most woman. It's cos he is fucking stinking rich that woman like him and allow him to dominate in such a way.

Just gone to find evidence of my memories - the results I wanted seem to be hidden by the S&M line of Mills and Boon Modern

One thing I know is real women don't do tick.

Re: 50 shades of Grey
Most bloke would just have a wank to a bit of free porn. This is an odd cultural thing where women dont want to not be involved.

They're male WHOers, Billy. They have no interest in what makes their women tick.

I seem to remember feminists arguing that Mills and Boon books were a bit S&M.

Re: 50 shades of Grey
What interests me about this film (and the book) and most of the posts here is that the men seem to be happy saying 'it's women's stuff' and taking some pleasure from meeting all their mates down the pub who all feel the same (SilverSurfer 1:53 Mon Feb 16). Even the initial post by C says 'so fess up' suggesting it's something blokes won't be willing to submit too (ha!) but need to be persuaded to see.

Now this isn't some Mills & Boon / Cartland shake-off or a Jennifer Aniston rom-com. This is a film about a relationship built on dominance and submission with elements of sadism and masochism including bondage and discipline, And women are lapping it up (no pun intended).

One critic said this week the film is bringing women back to the cinema and in a medium built around 'boy's films' (Transformers, van Damme and their ilk) this is to be recommended. That's fair enough but still misses the point for me.

I'm not talking about if the book is any good or not(it's awful) or how the film matches up to the book (general acceptance is the film is better than the book but lacks real eroticism)** but the fact we have a large female percentage who want to see a film based around BDSM. Something I'd have thought would have been the domain of a mainly male percentage but which most men seem to be dismissing as if it's a film shot in pink featuring kittens sitting on fluffy cushions.

No more 'I left her to it', 'she went with her mates' or 'I was bored'. This is a major shift in sexual mores. Is nobody fascinated by this?

**Read 'The story of O' instead. Much more exciting.

I confess, I took Mrs Snatch to the cinema to view this - as one of use had read all of the books and was eagerly awaiting the movie...

As a movie and a sexual spectacle, it was shit.

3.9 on IMDB says it all.

Mind you the nachos was fucking top banana.!

i had the misfortune of seeing it at the weekend.
i was shocked how bad it was, and even more shocked to hear it was an accurate representation of the book.

terrible, terrible film with a terrible plot and terrible acting. i thought it was a joke to begin with.

The worst film I've ever seen. Bar none.

Re: 50 shades of Grey
My local cinema's programme this week seems to consist entirely of this and kids' stuff for half-term. I can imagine the film bombing, crap reviews + the book can be read in private. People will wait for the DVD and watch it at home.
